New Legislative Districts

Court action has resulted in new legislative districts for the City of Newburgh.  The map below shows the two new districts that will represent the City.  Action Newburgh will post information on the candidates as they declare to run.

The two districts (4 and 6) that will represent the City of Newburgh are described below in terms of Democratic and Republican voter registration, the minimum signatures for Democratic and Republican candidates, based on party enrollments in each district.  Legislators serve four-year terms and are paid $30,000 a year, plus more for leadership positions.

DISTRICT 4

  • Eastern City of Newburgh; part of Town of Newburgh
  • Incumbent: Harvey Burger, D—City of Newburgh
  • Voter enrollment: Dem, 64%; GOP, 14%
  • Signatures needed: Dem, 102; GOP, 22

DISTRICT 6

  • Western City of Newburgh; part of Town of Newburgh
  • Incumbent: Patrick Berardinelli Sr., R-City of Newburgh
  • Voter enrollment: Dem, 50%; GOP, 25%
  • Signatures needed: Dem, 94; GOP, 48
